Introduction
Task
Your task is to use electronic and print resources to develop a volleyball handbook. Use Microsoft Word to create your handbook. Each guidebook should include a title page and table of contents. Split your book into three parts: a) Rules b) Basic Skills and c) Team Play and Organization. Use the following “focus questions” as a guide for writing each section:
Rules
a. What organization governs high school volleyball rules?
b. What are the legal dimensions of a volleyball court and how high is the net supposed to be?
c. What are the rules about serving the volleyball?
d. How do you score points in volleyball?
e. How many times may each team contact the ball on each side?
f. What is a sideout?
g. What are the most common rules violations that occur in volleyball?
Basic Skills
a. What are the most basic skills needed to play volleyball? You should include at least five.
b. What are the steps for performing each skill?
c. What is the main point for performing each skill?
d. What are some drills and practice routines that can help you learn each skill? Include two for each skill.
Team Play and Organization
a. How many players are on the court at once?
b. What are the main positions on the court?
c. What is the role of the libero?
d. What is rotation?
e. What is the attack line?
f. What are some drills that an entire team can perform to practice with?
g. What are some drills to improve team fitness that are specific to volleyball?
Process
a. Review the resources that I have given you. Also, look for other resources that are not mentioned.
b. Read as much as possible about the game.
c. Complete a cover page and a table of contents for your handbook. Feel free to include pictures.
d. Complete each section of your handbook. You may opt to list rules or write in paragraphs. Just make certain that it is well organized and that you answer all of the focus questions.
e. Reference your sources at the end of each section.
f. Email me your completed handbook
